Joe brings a deep knowledge of CT politics to his new role as Putnam DTC Chair. He is currently serving as a Senior Advisor, Government & Legislative Affairs for the office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz.
Vice Chair, J. Scott Pempek
A lifelong resident of East Putnam with his wife Cheryl, whom together have raised 2 wonderful daughters, Kristen and Rebecca. Scott holds a significant role in local governance as a Five Term Selectman, previously serving on the Putnam Board of Education for eight years. Scott graduated from Putnam High School in 1982, earned a B.S. in Management from Bryant University, and completed his M.B.A. at Nichols College.
Retiring after a distinguished 25-year career as a Senior District Sales Manager at American Honda Motor Co., Scott currently applies his expertise in real estate as a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway New England Properties. His community involvement extends to a 15-year tenure and past presidency of the Putnam Rotary Club, as well as serving as Vice Chair of the Putnam High School Wall of Honor Committee and former Chairman of the Putnam Democratic Town Committee.
In his role as Selectman, Pempek has served as both majority and minority selectman. He prioritizes the best interests of Putnam above partisan politics, leveraging his education and experience to negotiate and implement substantial projects, such as chairing the Ash Landfill expansion team, which is anticipated to bring additional revenue of $30 to $50 million to Putnam. His philosophy of public service centers on inclusivity and collaboration, aiming to formulate policies that benefit all residents. With insights gained from his prior service on the Board of Education, Scott effectively collaborates with stakeholders to develop budgets that meet student needs while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Don has an extensive background in STEM with a focus on machine learning applications for drug design. He is also a contributing scientific author to "Towards Data Science" and helps manage a local charity.
